Everytime we curl our hair it falls flat before we have gone out! Though when we straighten our hair it stays as straight as a pin all night. We decided to see if we could combine the two to get our curls to stay. We curled Ashley's hair with a straightener and tried several ways to see which kept her curls the longest. Ashley has medium length hair that is very fine, and we did not use any texturizing sprays.
With a curling iron (any sized barrel) Ashley's hair will create very loose curls that stay about 30-45 minutes. When we brush out her hair to create waves her hair will stay about 15 minutes.
With a straightener it was a trial and error to try to figure out what worked the best to achieve the best curls. We found that what worked the best was sectioning the hair into 3 layers and using a section of hair about an inch and a half wide.
By setting the curls with clips the curls were very bouncy... almost too bouncy. Though when we brushed out the curls they were so full and fun! So depending on the look you are going for will depend if you want to set them or not. By setting them you will get a more formal look or you could use it to do a nice updo or messy bun. Not setting the curls and not brushing them out gave a more casual every day look.
